Rosemary Nelson, a high profile Lurgan solicitor, was killed on 15th March 1999, from injuries sustained when a bomb attached to her car was detonated. Prior to her death she had been the target of numerous death threats, as well as verbal and physical assaults by officers of the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC). While it is widely known that dissident loyalists carried out the attack that killed Rosemary Nelson, no-one has ever been convicted of her murder. Over the years, pressure has mounted for a full, independent public inquiry in the case, to examine allegations of state collusion in the murder and the lack of an effective investigation.
